Welcome to Washington Middle School!

Our sixth grade team is looking forward to getting to know and helping your children throughout this year of transition.
Middle school presents many new opportunities that will require more independence and responsibility on the part of your child.

Each child will have six class periods per day.
Those will be Mathematics, Language Arts/Social Studies, Science/Technology, Physical Education, Health/Social Issues, Music or Exploratory.

In order for all students to have a successful sixth grade year, we have adopted the following team expectations.

  • Be on time for class
  • Treat people with courtesy and respect
  • Follow staff directions and cooperate with others
  • Respect the rights and property of others
  • Come prepared and willing to learn
  • Bring agenda everyday
  • Strive for quality on all assignments

The state Grade Level Expectations for each subject are important to all of us. We make every effort to provide learning opportunities to help all students in meeting these expectations. Reading expectations such as demonstrating evidence of reading comprehension, using strategies to read fluently, and reading for a variety of purposes are a focus in all subject areas.
