SmartMusic, a music practice software can be purchased online at http://www.smartmusic.com/ . The one year subscription is just $25.00 and increases student practice about 35% on average. When you go to the page listed above, enter the code washington2005 in the appropriate box. You will be guided through the subscription process from there. Internet access is only needed twice during the year. Once to initialize the account on your computer and at the end of the year to access your use of their product to allow SmartMusic to pay royalties to composers.

 

Maestro Allison

 

Greg Allison, Washington Middle School Director of Bands, received his B.A. and M.A. in Music Education from Western Washington University where he studied trumpet with the late William D. Cole. Mr. Allison has taught instrumental music in the Olympia School District for 22 years. His bands have been chosen to perform at the State and Northwest Music Educators’ Conference and the Western International Band Clinic.

Mr. Allison performs in the NW Wind Symphony and is a former member of the Tacoma Concert Band and Evergreen Brass Quintet. Mr. Allison has been a guest adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor for state and regional festivals and conventions including the Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. He has also been the Band Curriculum officer for the Washington Music Educatorss Association and is currently the West Vice President for that organization.
