Our 6th grade field trip to the Boeing Museum of Flight was a huge success! Mrs. Piper and Mrs. King are so proud of our astronauts. All 8 class missions to Mars were successful. All probes were built and successfully launched to Phobos and Deimos. Thank you for all the hard work you did in preparation for the field trip.
Description of Boeing Museum of Flight Field Trip:
Students participate in a simulated flight to the planet Mars. The Challenger Learning Center creates a realistic experience in which students take control of a space mission, performing all of the activities, critically timed tasks, and real-time decisions to keep the astronauts safe, the experiments on target, and the whole team, both the space ship and mission control, in constant communication. Both groups work together to successfully accomplish the goals of the mission. In this year’s mission our group traveled to Mars to replace the crew of astronauts who have been living on a human staffed base for the past two years. In addition to landing on the Martian surface, the team collected and analyzed geologic samples and launched exploratory probes to the two moons of Mars. Students also toured the flight museum with parent chaperones.
